The Priory Stud was
established in 1946 by Christine Green (then Christine Eyre),
a graduate of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons with
the acquisition of Priory Pippin for 11 guineas at Beaulieu
Road Pony Auction. This lovely liver chestnut mare won many
championships in hand and under saddle. At the age of 24
years her last year of glory came with a win in the New
Forest class at the Royal Richmond Show with foal at foot.
Pippin had 22 foals, the majority by Starlight including famous champions such as Priory Hatband out of Bandbox, exported as a foal to Denmark, and her most famous offspring, Priory Pink Petticoats, who was a champion in hand, under saddle (first winner of the New Forest Working Hunter Pony of the Year title) and as a brood mare - she was Supreme Champion of all breeds of pony at the Ponies of Britain and Royal Windsor Show. |
